Georgii Cherkin is a pianist and composer, known for his artistry, virtuosity, emotional honesty, and compelling stage presence. 

He has played with some of the most respected conductors and musicians in the world. Not only is he renowned for his performances but also for his masterful orchestrations of many popular piano masterpieces, which have captivated audiences. He introduced the first-ever rendition of Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” in an arrangement for piano and orchestra, gaining worldwide recognition. Inspired to create “symphonizations,” as he calls them, transforming famous piano works into a symphonic sound. His arrangements have been performed with great success in some of the most prestigious venues in Europe and Asia.

Georgii Cherkin was born in Sofia, into a family with a rich musical tradition.

He inherited the genes of his grandfather, Georgi Zlatev-Cherkin, a renowned composer and vocal pedagogue, and began playing and composing at an early age. He was accepted into the prestigious Accademia di Santa Cecilia in Rome, where he was trained by one of Italy’s most renowned music professors, Sergio Perticaroli, and graduated with honors. He further honed his skills under the guidance of the notable teacher Karl-Heinz Kämmerling at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

As a soloist, he has performed with symphony orchestras in some of the world’s most prestigious halls, including Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Tonhalle in Zurich, Palais des Beaux Arts in Brussels, Moscow International House of Music, Auditorio in Rome, Convention Center in Okinawa, Seoul Arts Center, the Chamber Hall of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, Kaufman Hall in New York, Cadogan Hall in London and more.

Georgii Cherkin has made significant contributions to film music, theater, and other classical music projects.

His dedication to popularizing culture and art in Bulgaria has earned him numerous prestigious awards including “The Crystal Lyre,” “The Golden Century,” “The Golden Muse,” “The Golden Quill” and others. He has also won significant awards at international competitions, such as the Pancho Vladigerov in 2003, Premio Sassari (Italy) in 1999, and Young Musical Talents in Sofia in 1994, among others.

From a young age, Georgii Cherkin has been composing and orchestrating music for symphony orchestras.
